International Festival of Consent 2020

A first for the International Day of Consent 2020, we have curated a two-week long programme of events taking place online across the world – the International Festival of

 

Consent. This has been brought together by #IDoConsent founder Jenny Wilson and Kitty Stryker, founder at consentculture.com and author of “Ask: Building Consent Culture” (2017)

BACKGROUND/History – The first ever Festival Of Consent on 30th November 2019 was a selection of events, performances, arts and creative interventions, discussions and workshops on consent culture taking place at Centre for Live Art Yorkshire in Leeds.

Suitable for ages 18 plus – British Sign Language Interpreted

1pm event open

1-2pm and 4-5pm – Consent Crafting with Sophie Powell

  • Wear your consent heart on your sleeve! Make a badge using one of our templates or get crafty designing your own to take away.
  • Add to the Consent Bunting; What are your solid consent boundaries? What does an ideal consent culture look like? What questions would you like to explore? Add to our ever growing Consent Bunting which is included in the Cabaret of Consent. Penants made at this event will (with your consent) be photographed and made into a collaborative zine to commemorate the day.

2-4pm – workshop by Sex Worker’s Opera – ‘Capitalism & Consent: Sex Work, Stigma and Storytelling’

Afternoon – Exclusive Videos by Meg-John Barker and Sex Worker’s Opera

4.15pm – ‘Upwording Consent’ – Rivca Rubin is live online from South America, presenting tools for consensual communications

5pm ‘No Shame’ Panel discussion – including Dr Kate Lister, Jenny Wilson, Sex Worker’s Opera

6pm food served/break

6.45pm Cocktails & Fucktales – an hour of spoken word with Leeds’ own home grown performance event, celebrating the underrated art form of dirty storytelling

7.45pm daytime only tickets expire – evening ticket needed for remaining programme

8pm Cameryn Moore / Little Black Book Productions presents nerdfucker: a one act play with boundary issues
The spectators are early, her lover is late, and the players are due any minute. Why the hell is she naked in this room full of strangers?

9.30pm Irregular Arts presents Jenny Wilson in Cabaret Of Consent – a show that rubs itself up against it’s own boundaries and invites you to say YES! Songs, interaction and stories… what will you consent to?

10.45pm Smut Slam – hosted by critically acclaimed playwright/performer Cameryn Moore, community storytelling open-mic event featuring real-life, first-person sex stories – who will win the prizes? The surprise judges decide!
